Berry Good News:

Oregon Berry Cook Off

When you think of berries, you think of summer, right? Cartons of fresh, sweet berries at the farmer's market, summer berry smoothies, and kids happily playing outdoors with sweet-sticky, berry-stained fingers.

Well, berries aren't just for summer anymore! Lots of varieties of fresh-frozen berries now grace your grocer's freezer, ready to be used for baking, to top your cereal, in that scrumptious savory dish or even as a sweet frozen treat. The list of berries grown in Oregon consists of; Huckleberry, Blackberry, Marionberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Boysenberry and Loganberry. And because they are quick frozen, their texture and taste are perfectly preserved to bring you summer, anytime.

Chefs from throughout Oregon will compete in the Oregon Berry Cookoff to take home the people's choice title: Best Oregon Berry Dish, or the live cooking competition for best Savory Oregon Berry dish. The live competition will be judged by three judges on taste, authenticity, creativity, technique, appearance, consistency and overall presentation.

Located at the Culinary Center in Lincoln City at 801 SW HWY 101, on the 4th Floor, North. We're above the Driftwood Public Library, and City Hall. This annual event begins at 11am and wraps up at 2pm. Cost at the door is FREE! (a token amount is charged for tastes)

Admission is free, with tasting sized portions available for a small fee.
